Minutes of November 7, 2022 C.V.W.C. meeting
Tim called the meeting to order at 7:09 pm with 23 members present.

- Roll call of officers was taken with one member absent.
- Minutes of the October 3 meeting were read and approved.
- Financial report it was given by Jeff and approved.
- Tournaments:
- Lansing – October 22-23
- 17 teams entered – 15 teams participated
- 34 fishermen boated 57 fish
- $272 Club share
- 5th – Hunter & Brianna Fortney – 5 fish for 15.56#
- 4th – Scott Schipper & Tony Patterson – 6 fish for 17.57#
- 3rd – Taylor & Rick Steffens – 5 fish for 20.92#
- 2nd – Tim & Tom Ahrens – 10 fish for 25.99#
- 1st – Carl Holten & Marty Stueffen – 10 fish for 26.34#
- Big Fish
- 1st – Carl Holten & Marty Stueffen – 8.84#
- 2nd – Hunter & Brianna Fortney – 7.41#
- 3rd – Taylor & Rick Steffens – 6.34#
- DNR report:
- Preferred date for the official 2023 April Kid’s Trout Stocking will be April 15.
- North Prairie cattails were raked, mowed and sprayed by the City of Cedar Falls.
- Martin Lake at Sweets Marsh will be drained and restored in 2023.
- 2023 Boat and Sportshow were discussed:
- Boat, RV and Vacation Show will be January 27-29. This is an official CVWC event.
- Eastern Iowa Sportshow will be March 10-12. This is also an official CVWC event.
- Cost is $200 each show for a double booth again. Boat show has been paid.
- Moved by Terry Vanlaningham, 2nd by Steve Maley to allocate $500 for meat bundles and $500 for grills to be raffled at the shows. Motion passed.
- Moved by Donnie Soash, 2nd by Peyton Groen to purchase 200 kids fishing poles from Hanks for $14 ($12.61 price per Mike Everett) each. Motion passed.
- The Walleye Federation membership and insurance:
- Club gets $1,000,000 insurance from TWF with 12 affiliated members.
- Events must be documented as “Official” events in minutes and flyers.
- Moved by Jeff Soash, 2nd by Jay Dietz for Club to pay $480 to TWF for 12 memberships to get the insurance coverage. 12 members to be named by the Tournament Board. Motion passed..
- Walleye stocking was discussed:
- No 7-9” fish were stocked but more smaller fish were included.
- 1600 fish stocked in three lakes, Grundy County Lake, George Wyth Lake and Big Woods Lake.
- Order has already been placed for next year. Price increased from $2.85 to $3.25.
- $5000 has been spent in both 2021 and 2022 for stocking.
- Moved by Terry Blank, 2nd by Steve Grimm to allocate $5000 for 2023. Motion passed.
- Road cleanup was discussed:
- The amount of trash was way down after cleaning in April.
- 10 volunteers in pairs cleaned ½ mile stretches.
- 2022 Recognition Banquet or Picnic was discussed:
- 2-4 volunteers needed to help organize.
- Trophy Sponsors need to be notified.
- An Awards Committee is needed.
- Raffles and door prizes will be needed.
- UAW hall?
- Tournament Board will discuss 2023 tournaments:
- Rules changes.
- Date adjustments to avoid conflicts with WAT dates.
- Club members need to support our Trophy Sponsors. Identify yourselves as CVWC members when patronizing these businesses.
- Drawing was held for Scheels gift cards: Tim Ahrens and Jeff Soash.
- Meeting adjourned at 7:59.
