​​Minutes of June 3, 2024 C.V.W.C. meeting​


  • Lynn Cook was present to talk about DNR activities in Black Hawk and Bremer Counties
    • Sweets Marsh project is complete
    • Chris Jones to transition to law enforcement for Bremer County
    • Non-resident party deer hunting is no longer legal
  • Tim called the meeting to order at 7:19 with 29 members present.
  • Roll call of Board members – all present.
  • May 6 minutes read and approved.
  • Treasurer report by Jeff read and approved.
  • Tournament report:
    • Storm Lake
      • 11 boats – 2 boats disqualified for measurement/photography issues

    •  George Wyth Lake was shocked on May 15
      • 60 crappies 11”-13”

      • Nice walleyes were reported
    • Hickory Hills habitat installation in June or July – Club help has been requested
    • Greg Gelwicks - Manchester biologist to possibly speak at July meeting.
  • President’s Report
    • Family Fun Day to be August 11, 12-3 pm
      • More fish are needed – 40#-50# needed
    • Impact Outdoors to possibly become a Trophy Sponsor
    • Black Hawk County Conservation Commission
      • Military Family Day
      • August 18
      • Fishing instruction by Walleye Club 10:00-1:00
      • Volunteers are needed – sign up at July meeting
  • No Board recommendations
  • Club Donation Policy was discussed at Board meeting

    • Giveaway inventory is low except line
  • Need to share more fishing info and techniques at meetings
