Minutes of May 1, 2023 C.V.W.C. meeting
Tim called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with 27 members present.
Roll call of officers was taken with 2 members absent.
Minutes of the February 6 meeting were read and approved.
Financial report it was given by Jeff and approved.
Tournaments:
Clear Lake tournament April 29.
30 boats
15 new teams
2 teams signed up morning of tournament
Discussion of cutting entries off the night before tournaments.
Possibility of holding a rules meeting the night before tournaments.
DNR report:
Milo – crappies hitting on South Prairie.
Mark Winn reported South Prairie was sprayed to reduce weed growth last fall.
Fish are needed for the August Family Fun Day.
June 3 events:
Jim’s Sport Shop Outdoor Kids and Family Fun Day.
Black Hawk County Conservation Kids’ Fishing Derby.
50 kids at Big Woods last year.
Very few at Hickory Hills.
Sign-up sheets passed around.
April 15 Trout Stocking – two totes of misc. tackle left.
Pizza Ranch fund-raiser will be October 11, 4:30-8:00.
Family Fun Day will be August 13, 12:00-3:00.
Face painting
Bounce house – Donnie
Jim’s Sport Shop archery and Crawdaddy kayaks – Tim.
Hot dogs & buns – Greg Azbill.
Condiments are needed.
Mark Halverson, Zero Landfill Recycling, Hampton, Iowa donating more equipment.
Banquet:
February 3, 2024 at UAW hall.
Scheel’s gift cards.
Cabela’s gift cards.
Gift cards for oil changes, etc.
Outdoor Journey for Girls still needs registrants.
IDOT Cleanup has been renewed for May 2023 – May 2025.
Thank you letter and certificate from Iowa DOT.
Walleye stocking and Highway cleanup will be October 14.
Anyone interested in participating in the Waterloo Memorial Day Parade is to meet at 6th and Commercial at 9:00 am. Contact Steve Grimm.

Angelo reported on April 6 DNR walleye netting on Rathbun, Storm and Clear Lakes.
1891 quarts of walleye eggs.
1300 fish netted, 627 females.
There will be 1.6 million 2” walleye fry to stock.
320k 6-9” fingerlings to stock.
Cedar River – 190 walleyes 8-13”, 5 - 27” walleyes this spring using crawlers and jig & plastic.
Drawing was held for Scheels gift cards: Ken Roeder and Doug Bonwell.
Drawing was held for 3 - 1 oz. silver coins: Bob Piper, Tim Ahrens and Jim Tate.
