Minutes of January 2, 2023 C.V.W.C. meeting

  • Tim called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm with 19 members present.
  • Roll call of officers was taken with three members absent.
  • Minutes of the December 5 meeting were read and approved.
  • Financial report it was given by Jeff and approved.
    • 14 2023 memberships paid to date
  • Tournaments:
    • Jay Dietz, Donnie Soash and Grant Rowe have volunteered to be tournament co-directors for 2023.
    • 2023 schedule is set, see the website.
    • TWF has given us four NTC slots.
    • NTC participants, Marinette, WI on June 1-3:
      • Tim and Tom Ahrens
      • Carl Holten and Marty Stuefen
      • Doug Bonwell and Jeremy Geisler
      • Greg Azbil and Grant Rowe
      • Scott Schipper and Kevin Belz if another becomes available
  • DNR report:
    • Ryan Kurtz, Milo Gadow and Angelo Schmitt will serve as DNR liaisons.
    • Lori Eberhart will speak at the February meeting.
    • DNR studying walleyes in local rivers:
      • Fish stocked and branded 2015-2020
      • On hold now
      • 11-13” fish stocked in Cedar should be 15-17” next fall.
      • 80,000 stocked at Plainfield, 36,000 at Greene and Shellrock
  • $1000 donation from Scheels Cedar Falls.
  • $186 from Pizza Ranch fundraiser.
  • Boat show:
    • Meat bundle and grill for raffle.
    • Kids’ rod to be given away each day.
  • 2023 tri-fold was passed around for review.
  • Club is out of decals. Tim will investigate getting more.
  • 11 non-tournament events were held in 2022:
    • Boat Show - January.
    • Pizza Ranch fundraiser - February.
    • Sport Show – March.
    • Kids’ Trout Stocking event – April
    • Highway Cleanup – May.
    • Jim’s Sport Shop Kids’ Fun Day – May.
    • Black Hawk County Kids’ Fishing Derby – May.
    • Family Fun Day – August.
    • Recognition Picnic – August.
    • Pizza Ranch fundraiser – October.
    • Walleye Stocking and Highway Cleanup – October.
  • Six tournaments held in 2022.
  • A committee is needed to plan a banquet if members would like to hold one. Tim will help coordinate, Steve Grimm will help. 2-3 more volunteers are needed.
  • There will be at least as many events in 2023 as were held in 2022.
  • Banner will be updated in March. Sponsors were discussed.
  • Drawing was held for Scheels gift cards: Bob Piper and Peyton Groen.
  • Meeting adjourned at 7:55.
