Minutes of April 3, 2023 C.V.W.C. meeting
- Tim called the meeting to order at 6:58 pm with 32 members present.
- Roll call of officers was taken with 2 members absent.
- Minutes of the February 6 meeting were read and approved.
- Financial report it was given by Jeff and approved.
- Tournaments:
- Harper’s Ferry tournament was canceled due to weather.
- Clear Lake tournament April 29.
- DNR report:
- Iowa Outdoors magazine article credits CVWC with stocking 5-7 inch walleyes in 2016. Fish are over 20 inches now.
- Trout Stocking will be April 15.
- Event is on Cedar Falls Community Calendar.
- City of Cedar Falls now requires permits for the event with a $25 fee. Tim refused to pay fee.
- Donation request has been made at HyVee for hot dogs and condiments. No response yet. Purchase was authorized at March meeting.
- Angelo Schmidt and Rick Harris to cook hot dogs. Darrell Kinkade will provide hot chocolate.
- Sport Show was March 10-12.
- Thanks expressed for all volunteers.
- Raffles went well.
- Five new members and two renewals.
- Pizza Ranch fundraiser possible October 11. Greg Azbill will coordinate.
- Family Fun Day:
- August 13, 12:00-3:00 pm.
- Impact Outdoors, Crawdaddy Outdoors, Jim’s Sport Shop, face painting, bounce house.
- Banquet:
- Tim to check on dates for UAW Hall.
- Members only.
- Free-will donation.
- Awards and recognition.
- Raffle/door prizes:
- Scheels gift cards.
- Cabelas gift cards.
- Trophy Sponsors to be invited.
- Tim will send reply and decal to online membership applicants.
- Outdoor Journey for Girls applicants needed.
- Cedar Falls Fishing Club present to thank CVWC for donation:
- 30 members so far.
- Only bass tournaments so far but open to other species.
- Boat captain volunteers needed, 2 anglers per boat plus captain.
- Trout event sign up passed around.
- Free will donation bucket will be provided.
- Will sell rod raffle tickets.
- Jim’s Sport Shop Kid’s Fun Day will be June 3. CVWC help has been requested.

- Tips, Tactics and Presentation:
- Cedar River – 120 walleyes since ice-out, mostly 12=14”, 25” & 27”, jig & twister.
- Pool 10 – good last Thursday, handline double Rapalas, hair jig & minnow, 20-25”.
- Pool 9 – downriver 20.5”, Minnesota Slough, 5/16-3/8 oz. jig & minnow.
- Randy Heiberger reported on his trip to Florida.
- Drawing was held for Scheels gift cards: Terry Vanlaningham and Randy Heiberger.
- Meeting adjourned at 7:58.
