Minutes of May 5, 2025 Official C.V.W.C. meeting.
Tim called the meeting to order at 6:57 with 22 members present.
  • Roll call of Board members – all present.
  • April 7 minutes read and approved.
  • Treasurer report by Jeff read and approved.
  • Tournament report:
    • Guttenberg, April 12.
      • 16 boats
      • 19 fish scored
      • 64.42# total weight
      • $256 Club share
      • $525 in 15 new memberships
    • Clear Lake, May 3.
      • 29 boats
      • 113 fish scored
      • 314.56# total weight
      • $464 Club share
      • $775 in 28 new memberships
      • 2nd largest tournament
  • DNR Report:
    • 32.5” walleye caught in Maquoketa in March.
    • Boone Fisheries meeting:
      • Fairport hatchery closed.
        • Source of river-strain of walleyes.
        • Checking into Genoa as temporary source.
        • Rathbun to hatch river-strain and ship to Manchester.
    • Will stock bluegills at Casey Lake the week of April 14.
    • North Prairie cattails have been treated with chemicals.
  • President’s Report:
    • Future events – Tim had a list of events needing volunteers (could be by committees). Examples are:
      • Banner update.
      • Banquet – February or March – 3 to 5 volunteers.
      • Family Fun Day – August.
      • Road Cleanup:
        • Contact North Star Fish Hatchery.
        • IDOT renewal has been obtained.
        • IDOT needs 48 hour notice.
        • Safety meeting with IDOT needed prior to cleanup.
      • DNR liaison needed to assist & eventually replace Milo.
      • Scheels liaison needed.
      • New membership follow-up (Welcome contact, decal, shirts, etc.)
      • Purchase memorials.
      • Contact potential guest speakers.
    • Board recommendation;
      • Cedar Falls Fishing Team requested donation/sponsorship.
        • Board recommended $500 & $500 worth of Trilene.
        • Moved Steve M.
        • 2nd by Bill B.
        • Passed
        • Will review Club finances in future years.
  • Old & New Business:
    • Jordan has a video on Youtube.
    • Jeff has:
      • 2 – $50 Custom Covers certificates.
      • 4 - $50 AquaTraction certificates.
      • 4 – 2-night stay Roberds Lake Resort certificates.
  • Tips & Tactics:
    • Guttenberg:
      • Tim & Tom – handlining.
      • Jordan – 4 oz. weight on 3-way with 2 crankbaits.
    • Clear Lake:
      • Tim & Tom – had 12# by 1:30.
      • Jay – ¼ oz. gold jig with Gulp on sand flats.
      • Jordan – 1/8 oz. jig on gravel bar in weeds in 8 FOW.
