Minutes of January 6, 2025 C.V.W.C. meeting

Minutes of January 6, 2025 Official C.V.W.C. meeting.
​Guest speaker was Lynn Koch of the Iowa DNR who gave a report on bird flu at Sweets Marsh and South Prairie Lake and on hemorrhagic fever and chronic wasting disease in local deer herds.
 
Tim called the meeting to order at 7:01 with 24 members present.

• Roll call of Board members – one absent.
• December 2 minutes read and approved.
• Treasurer report by Jeff read and approved.
• Tournament report:
  • 2025 schedule has been finalized.
• DNR Report:
  • DNR says no to walleyes in Hickory Hills or South Prairie.
• President’s Report:
  • $1000 donation received from Cedar Falls Scheels.
  • A recipient for the Club Scholarship has been identified by Jenny Hoover.
    • Scholarship started in 2019.
    • Current balance of $3000.
    • Fund is currently self-sustaining.
  • Banquet committee is working on plans.
    • Banquet will be Feb. 8 at the Fire Museum in Waverly.
    • Water and lemonade will be furnished, bring your own if you want something else.
    • Raffle:
      • 10 - $50 Scheels gift cards.
      • Motion by Tim, 2nd by Fisheye.
      • Amended to limit one gift card per person.
      • Passed as amended.
  • TWF memberships – Liability coverage.
    • 12 memberships have been submitted.
  • Annual rod raffle:
    • St. Croix Avid rod has been donated.
    • Shimano reel has been donated.
    • Hank’s plastics have been donated.
  • 2025 Memberships are due.
  • Hank’s Ice Derby to be Feb. 1 (now Feb. 8) – Club assistance has been requested.
  • Greg Dietz has been communicating with Dubuque and Cedar Rapids walleye clubs regarding a possible multi-club tournament.
  • Letter with $100 donation received from wife of Richard Jones and Al Weber along with some fishing gear.
  • No date set for Family Fun Day yet.
