6th Annual Kids Event

What an exciting day last Saturday at North Prairie Lake. On arrival at 9:00 am there were already 20 ice tents and several fishermen on the lake drilling holes. CVWC personell were setting up a tent, Cedar Falls personell assisting. All awaiting the arrival of te DNR truck with a supply of trout.

Upon arrival of the DNR, everyone went into action. DNR cut a hole in the ice and with the weight of all the people the water gushed up through the hole. Pipes to deliver the fish from the truck were hooked up. Then the pin was pulled to let he trout pass through the tube. Next we had fish everywhere as we had a break in the pipe. Kids were excited when this happened and all got to help roundup the loose trout.

After a few minutes all were catching trout through their holes. Within 10 minutes kids were claiming prizes from the Cedar Valley Walleye Club's tent setup on the hill. Milo Gadow (Chairman for the event) was passing out prizes left & right. Mike Everett of HANKS Sport & Bait Shop was seen out on the lake passing out ice fishing tackle for the kids, along with free live bait tickets that could be use next week for his Ice Fishing Contest.

I did notice a lot of Father & son teams fishing as they were last year. The really big news this year was there were a lot of Mother and Daughter teams this year. Hey Guys they were catching a lot of fish. You get-em girls.

Overall it was the biggest event thus far. Waterloo Courier reported several hundred people were in attendence.

If you think this was big, get your fishing gear ready for the North Prairie Lake Spring Kids Fishing Event now planned for Arpril 10th.

What a great time was had by all.

This is the FISHEYE NEWS REPORTER  signing off.
